The consumer price index (CPI) and last month's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting minutes will highlight the economic calendar, as traders look for clues as to the timing of the Fed's next rate hike -- particularly in the wake of the last blowout payrolls report. Several Federal Reserve presidents will also give speeches throughout the week. Highlighting the earnings schedule for a second week running will be retailers, led by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) and Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT), while blue chips Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) and Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) will also report.
