A big put player jumped on Transocean LTD (RIG), plus Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc (CCE) racked up heavy call volume
U.S. markets closed lower today, with energy names in particular taking a drudging. Across all 12 options exchanges, 7.58 million calls changed hands, compared to 6.65 puts. The day's put/call volume ratio landed at 0.87.
One of the day's biggest trades occurred on Transocean LTD (NYSE:RIG), where one speculator apparently rolled down a massive block of 90,300 November 13 puts to the 12 strike. Despite trading at all-time highs, Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS) saw increased put activity, with the contracts crossing at four times the normal pace. Put volume on Sunedison Inc (NYSE:SUNE) ended three times higher than normal as the company prepares for earnings.
Twitter Inc (NASDAQ:TWTR) settled at its lowest daily close ever, but still saw heavy call activity. Michael Kors Holdings Ltd (NYSE:KORS) and Coach Inc (NYSE:COH) also saw heavy call volume, despite trading lower. Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc (NYSE:CCE) gave back some of last week's gains, but call activity soared to 37 times the norm as one player liquidated a big position in January 2016 47-strike calls.
