The Fed's latest call on interest rates, quarterly earnings from Apple, and third-quarter GDP are all set to shake up Wall Street in the week ahead
All eyes turn to the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) this week, as policymakers are set to issue their latest rate-hike decision on Wednesday. And the data flow doesn't stop there, as advance third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) numbers will be released on Thursday.
And if all this news isn't enough to move the market, quite a few Dow members -- including Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), DuPont (NYSE:DD), Merck (NYSE:MRK), and Pfizer (NYSE:PFE), plus oil majors Chevron (NYSE:CVX) and Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) -- are all set to step into the earnings confessional throughout the course of the week.

Monday, 10/26
Monday's lineup features new home sales and the Dallas Fed's manufacturing survey. 2U (TWOU), Broadcom (BRCM), Cheesecake Factory (CAKE), Hartford Financial (HIG), PMC-Sierra (PMCS), Sohu.com (SOHU), and Xerox (XRX) will all reveal their quarterly results.
Tuesday, 10/27
The FOMC kicks off its monetary policy meeting on Tuesday. Also on tap are durable goods orders, the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index, and the Conference Board's consumer confidence numbers.
AAPL, DD, MRK, and PFE will report earnings, with AK Steel (AKS), Akamai Technology (AKAM), Alibaba Group (BABA), BP (BP), Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY), Coach (COH), Comcast (CMCSA), Corning (GLW), Ford Motor (F), Gilead Sciences (GILD), GrubHub (GRUB), JetBlue Airways (JBLU), Panera Bread (PNRA), Peabody Energy (BTU), Spirit Airlines (SAVE), Twitter (TWTR), and UPS (UPS) all joining the Dow members in the spotlight.

Everyone's interest rate questions will be answered Wednesday, as the trading day's highlight will be the FOMC's 2 p.m. ET policy decision. Earlier in the session, we'll hear the latest on weekly crude inventories.
