Earnings reports will be light next week
Although the new month will kick off with a holiday-shortened week, there will be plenty of market-moving economic data for investors to digest. U.S. stock markets will close early on Tuesday, July 3, and will be closed Wednesday for the Fourth of July holiday, but the action will heat up Thursday with the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) June meeting minutes -- which could feature clues about the pace of future rate hikes -- and Friday brings us the monthly jobs report.
Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
Monday, July 2, will feature Markit's purchasing managers manufacturing index (PMI), data on construction spending, and the Institute for Supply Management's (ISM) manufacturing survey. There are no notable earnings reports scheduled.
On Tuesday, July 3, U.S. markets will close at 1 p.m. ET. Data on motor vehicle sales and factory orders will be released. Acuity Brands (AYI) is scheduled to unveil its quarterly report.
