Macy's, Target, and Lowe's will also unveil quarterly results next week
We're coming up on the last full week of trading in November, and with the holiday shopping season right around the corner, retail earnings will start to roll in quickly. Among some of the more notable names stepping up to the plate are Home Depot (HD), Macy's (M), and Target (TGT).
The Fed will also be on Wall Street's radar following Fed Chair Jerome Powell's congressional testimony, where he suggested the central bank could hold interest rates steady for the time being. While the minutes from the latest Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting are due out on Wednesday, a number of Fed speeches are slated throughout the week.
Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.
There are no economic reports slated for Monday, Nov. 18, but an afternoon speech from Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester could draw attention. Manchester United (MANU) and ZTO Express (ZTO) will report earnings.
Housing starts and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) housing market index are due on Tuesday, Nov. 19. New York Fed President John Williams will speak. Earnings are expected from HD, 58.com (WUBA), JinkoSolar (JKS), Kohl's (KSS), TJX Companies (TJX), and Urban Outfitters (URBN).
Wednesday, Nov. 20, brings the release of the minutes from the latest Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, along with the weekly crude inventories update. L Brands (LB), Lowe's (LOW), NetEase (NTES), Nuance Communications (NUAN), and TGT will step into the earnings confessional.
Weekly jobless claims, the Philadelphia Fed business outlook survey, and existing home sales will be in focus on Thursday, Nov. 21. Wall Street will also be eyeing appearances by Mester and Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari. BJs Wholesale Club (BJ), M, Gap (GPS), Intuit (INTU), Nordstrom (JWN), Pure Storage (PSTG), Ross Stores (ROST), Seadrill (SDRL), and Splunk (SPLK) will unveil earnings.
The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey will be unveiled on Friday, Nov. 22. Buckle (BKE), Foot Locker (FL), Hibbett Sports (HIBB), and J M Smucker (SJM) will step into the earnings spotlight.
