With the uptick in reports increasing last week, its clear that earnings season is in full swing, and this coming week will only prove that point further. There's still plenty of economic data for investors to digest, however, including the consumer confidence index, Federal Reserve updates, and the always highly-anticipated weekly jobless claims report. Some big names set to step into the earnings confessional include American Airlines (AAL), American Express (AXP), AT&T (T), Coca-Cola (KO), Chipotle (CMG), Dow Inc. (DOW), Honeywell (HON), IBM (IBM), and Southwest Air (LUV).
Below is a list of key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All economic dates listed below are tentative and subject to change.
Monday, April 19 starts the week off with durable goods orders and core capital goods orders.
On Tuesday, April 20, the Case-Shiller home price index and consumer confidence index are slated for release.
Wednesday, April 21 will bring updates from the Federal Reserve and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
Regularly scheduled weekly jobless claims data is due out on Thursday, April 22, along with existing home sales.
Finally, Friday, April 23, the week wraps up with a slew of economic data, including the employment cost index, new home sales, the Chicago purchasing managers' index (PMI), and the consumer sentiment index.
