Today's market-moving economic data and earnings schedule

Investors will have plenty of economic data to unpack this week, as they rush into the final stretch of the third quarter. Keeping them busy next week is the Chicago purchasing managers' index (PMI), as well as manufacturing and services data. The Case-Shiller home prices index is also due, in addition to the latest round of jobless claims data, and an update on the unemployment rate.

Though the earnings docket is getting quieter, some of the biggest names include American Eagle (AEO), Broadcom (AVGO) Campbell Soup (CPB), Chewy (CHWY), Cloudera (CLDR), CrowdStrike (CRWD), DocuSign (DOCU), Hormel Foods (HRL), Lululemon Athletica (LULU), Signet Jewelers (SIG), and Zoom Video (ZM).

Only pending home sales data is on tap today.

The following companies are slated to release quarterly earnings today, August 30:

Akoustis Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:AKTS -- $9.99) develops, designs, manufactures, and sells radio frequency (RF) filter products for the mobile wireless device industry in the United States. Akoustis Technologies will report its Q4 earnings of 2021 before the bell today.

Catalent Inc. (NYSE:CTLT -- $129.85) provides delivery technologies and development solutions for drugs, biologics, and consumer and animal health products worldwide. Catalent will report its Q4 earnings of 2021 before the bell today.

Cloudera Inc. (NYSE:CLDR -- $15.95) offers a suite of data analytics and management products in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Cloudera will report its Q2 earnings of 2022 before the bell today.

Li Auto Inc. (NASDAQ:LI -- $29.34) designs, develops, manufactures, and sells smart electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in China. Li Auto will report its Q2 earnings of 2021 before the bell today.

Nordson Corp. (NASDAQ:NDSN -- $233.54) engineers, manufactures, and markets products and systems to dispense, apply, and control adhesives, coatings, polymers, sealants, biomaterials, and other fluids worldwide. Nordson will report its Q3 earnings of 2021 after the market closes today.

StoneCo Ltd. (NASDAQ:STNE -- $51.61) provides financial technology solutions to merchants and integrated partners to conduct electronic commerce across in-store, online, and mobile channels in Brazil. StoneCo will report its Q2 earnings of 2021 after the market closes today.

Zoom Video Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:ZM -- $340.81) engages in the provision of video-first communications platform. Zoom Video will report its Q2 earnings of 2022 after the market closes today.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Case-Shiller home price index and the consumer confidence index are set to come out. Plus, the year-over-year Chicago PMI is due.
