The Week Ahead: Light Economic Data Amid New Year

No earnings are scheduled until the second week of January

    The economic calendar is extending its quiet streak, with minimal economic data slated for the holiday-shortened week. Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) data out of Chicago will start the week off, while ISM manufacturing is on deck for the second trading day of 2025. Earnings will pause altogether, with no notable names scheduled to report quarterly results until the second week of January.

    Below is a list of key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All economic dates listed below are tentative and subject to change.

    Monday, December 30 will host pending home sales and the Chicago Business Barometer PMI.

    The S&P Case-Shiller home price index will be published on Tuesday, December 31.

    Wall Street will be closed for New Year's Day on Wednesday, January 1.

    Per usual, jobs data is on the docket for Thursday, January 2, with construction spending also on tap.

    ISM manufacturing is the only thing slated for Friday, January 3.
