Microsoft's Quantum Ready program is boosting optimism in the sector
Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) is making waves in the quantum computing sector with the announcement of its Quantum Ready program for businesses, urging businesses to be "quantum-ready" in 2025. The initiative marks a significant milestone, as the tech giant proclaimed "we are at the advent of the reliable quantum computing era."
Wall Street is already reacting to the news. Pre-market, Microsoft stock is up 1.3%, with the announcement also boosting shares of quantum computing stocks. At last glance, D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) is up 25.2%, Rigetti Computing (RGTI) is 16% higher, and IONQ (IONQ) climbed 9.1% before the open.
Microsoft stock, however, has already faced some turbulence this year, coming into the session 1.4% lower year-to-date. The security is attempting to rebound from a three-day losing streak, with the $410 level acting as support. Still, resistance near the $420 region prove a challenge. On a longer time frame, MSFT boasts a solid 7% year-over-year gain.
Meanwhile, the quantum computing sector is making significant strides, despite Nvidia's (NVDA) doubts. Over the past 12 months, quantum stocks have posted remarkable gains. QBTS is up more than 522%, RGTI has climbed 77.5%, and IONQ has more than doubled with a 159% increase. These impressive performances underscore growing investor confidence in the industry’s potential.
