Both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq are closed in observance of Presidents' Day every year. If any other markets are open on this day, please be cautious while trading on a U.S. market holiday due to lower trading volume and, thereby, lower liquidity. When is Presidents' Day?

Presidents' Day is observed on the third Monday of February every year. The next Presidents' Day holiday will take place on Monday, February 21st.

When Is the Stock Market Closed for Presidents' Day?

The markets will be closed from 9:30 a.m. EST until 4:00 p.m. EST in observance of Presidents' Day. The U.S. stock market will reopen on the following day, Tuesday, and proceed will open at 9:30 a.m. EST and close at 4:00 p.m. EST, as normal.

Normal market hours are 9:30 a.m. EST through 4:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday of every week. Following Presidents' Day, the next market holiday (causing the markets to close) will be in observance of Good Friday.

Other than Presidents' Day, there are nine holidays when the stock markets are closed including Memorial Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Juneteenth, Christmas Day, Independence Day, Good Friday, and Labor Day. If any of these holidays occurs over the weekend, the stock market closes on the Monday after or Friday before.
